A couple of months ago, five of the seven of us started
training for our school's Fun Run. Last year,
John and the three older boys ran the 5K, and I was
thinking about giving it a shot this year.
And then, we realized that Jonah had a soccer game
at the same time as the fun run. For a little while,
there was a possibility that we would miss the soccer game.
Then, Mike and Jenny got engaged, and their wedding
was scheduled for the day of Jonah's very last soccer game.
We didn't want Jonah to miss his last TWO games,
so John and the two oldest boys went to the race,
and the rest of us went to the soccer game.
Jonah had a great assist to his friend, and declared
a victory for his team. Way to go Hulks!
The Fun Run was also a success. John ran the 5K and took
2nd in his age group (Men 19-35). He took 4th place overall.
Bentley and Maxwell decided that training wasn't really
something they wanted to do this year, and opted to run
the 1 mile instead of the 5K. Despite their lack of training,
they both took first place in their age divisions
(Bentley, boys 9-12; Maxwell, boys 8 and under).
Bentley was 4th overall, and Maxwell placed 5th overall.
It would have been nice if the boys had learned a lesson
about hard work paying off, but they didn't. :)
At least they had fun and were happy with their wins.

Great job to all the boys!
That is so how it is with boys. They can still kick butt, even if they haven't trained. Once, Ben went jogging with me. I had gone every day for, like, YEARS. And he still was totally outlapping me. It made me so mad!!
Congratulations all around.
