On Saturday, we took the kids to a BYU Women's

basketball game. I blogged one photo for my project 52,

and have been hoping to post a few more since then.

Does anyone else ever feel like their live is spinning out of control?

Anyway, part of the reason we went to the game was

to see Mikey play in the Pep Band.

(He's on the second row down, 3rd from the left -trombone.)

The band sounded great, and we liked seeing Mikey at work.

Maxwell says the band was his favorite part,

Ruby, however was crazy about Cosmo.

She screamed "Cosmo!" over and over again.

Stopped for a few minutes, asked what his name was,

and screamed some more.

Eventually, he made his way over to us and

Ruby, Jonah, and Maxwell got to talk to him.

After the game, Mikey came over for dinner and we

celebrated his "golden" birthday.

Usually my parents are here to go to our (almost) annual

BYU Basketball game. We missed them!

(Especially the kids, who didn't get any treats at the game.)

Yesterday, John and I took the kids to the BYU
Women's basketball game against San Diego.
BYU won! (although we'd left long before the end)

Our Camera is Back!

Our camera came back today from the repair place!

(Six days without a camera = a long six days.)

Luckily, Milo still likes shining for the camera.

Anyway . . .

We sent the camera in with the tiny little

memory card that it came with.

I didn't know we'd ever used it,

but look what we found:

I wish there was a good picture of Maxwell,

but maybe he was the one taking most of them.

It's fun to have a quick flashback moment.

I'm getting near the end of my Project 52!
If only my camera had lasted another month. :(
About a week ago, it stopped taking photos with
the flash on. It will take photos without the flash,
but that isn't terribly helpful most of the time.
The good news is that for once we purchased
the extra warranty protection plan thingy.
Our camera is covered until April, so it won't
cost a fortune to get it fixed.
We shipped it off yesterday, and with any luck
I won't have to miss a week for my P52.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Ruby and I set the timer one afternoon last week,
and it was light enough in our kitchen for our tempermental camera
to work without the flash. Hurray!
Last week I redid our photo board
(on the wall behind us).
I painted the frame red, and put up the new
photos that we got with Christmas cards.
It's one of my favorite things.
I love looking at our friends and family all year long.

Not a Cute Kid

She says she's not a "kid," and she's not "cute."

She is a GIRL and she's PRETTY.

My brother, Mikey, lived with us last semester.

A week ago, he got an apartment near campus.

Yesterday, Ruby asked me,

"Did Mike move because he doesn't love me anymore?"

He came up later that day to do laundry,

and he reassured her that he hadn't stopped loving her.

Mikey and I thought it was pretty funny

that Ruby is already thinking like a girl.

Apple Pie Anniversary #10

(Evidently my next Project 52 needs to be photos of John and me together.

I went through the last 6 months of photos and couldn't find one to use,

and we couldn't take one because our camera is broken,

so I dug up this photo from when we were engaged.)

Today is the 10th anniversary of our first date together!

Last night Elizabeth babysat so John and I could

go on a date (without any kids)!

We tried a new burger place, Stumpy Burger.

It was awesome.
I have a new favorite burger place.

Then we went to Ozz (the scene of our first date),

and finished off the evening with shakes from Sammy's.

Today I made our traditional apple pie.

(Which Bentley thought was gross.

He thought it would taste more like pumpkin pie.

At least I gave him a really small piece.)

This video gets pretty boring after the first little bit. I was hoping he'd wave goodbye (he's just starting to do that), but he wasn't interested.

Bentley the Bobcat!

It took Bentley a little over 24 hours

to do all of the requirements for his Bobcat rank.
Then, he had to wait nearly TWO MONTHS

to actually get the Bobcat badge.

Tonight we took the entire family to Pack Meeting

and Bentley got his long awaited Bobcat rank.

Now he can't wait to earn his Wolf.

I meant to post this photo last weekend, but

I never got around to it.
This was Milo's first (and so far only) time sledding.

He didn't seem impressed. Or scared.

He was very chill.

On the other hand, I was really nervous. :)

Sunbeam Girl!

This past week has probably been the longest

week Ruby has ever had.

She knew that on Sunday she would be a

Sunbeam!

On Monday, her brothers were home

from school, and she thought it was Saturday

and that the next day she'd be a Sunbeam.

Nope.

Six more days.

And then on Tuesday, her brothers were home again,

and she was just sure that the next day would be

Sunday, and she'd finally be a Sunbeam.

Nope.

Five more days.

And then on Wednesday . . . .

Like I said, it was a long week.

But yesterday really was Saturday,

and today she at long last got to be a Sunbeam!

She was very excited.

(Side note - a year ago, I took three photos of Jonah

on his first day of Sunbeams. They are eerily similar

to the three photos that I took of Ruby this morning.)

Anyway, her first day seems to have gone well.
She is in a class with Jonah and his age group,
so after Sacrament Meeting, Jonah took her hand,
and together they walked to class.
I love it when they're friends.
They both got a little handout with a mirror on it,
and Ruby carried hers around for a long time after church.

Road Trip (not for us)

We've been really lucky over the past year -

we got to see all the cousins and didn't have to leave home.

Judy and her kids came up in May for Milo's blessing.

Ella has been to our house two times (almost three).

Warren and Becky have been here with their girls

several times (thanks guys!).

Today, we got to see the Indiana cousins!

I wish all of our kids were as good as Milo is about having

his photo taken. Check out that smile. He's awesome.

Now look at Ruby or Jonah.

Not so awesome.

Ruby was thrilled to have Sophie and Emma here.

She was absolutely giddy for the first little while.

After that she was just really excited.

What a great way to start the new year.
