Valentines Day

We started our heart day off with pink heart shaped

pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then we went to 

Bentley's basketball game. His team won, but it was 

a close one. We had about 20 minutes before Maxwell

had to be at the gym for his game, so we got doughnuts

and ate them at the park. Max had team pictures, 

Milo got lost at the park, and we watched Max play.

He made a shot as the buzzer went off at the end of 

the game. It was pretty cool. After basketball,

John and I went to the track, Alton took a nap, and we

all did chores. Our traditional Valentines Day dinner

is take-out from El Azteca. After that yummy food

we gave the kids their treat - 2 Sweet Tooth Fairy

cake bites each, and we ate our chocolate.

The line at Sees was super long, so we opted for 

Mrs. Cavanaugh's chocolates this year. They taste great!

Alton's theme for roll car today seems to be

"things with wheels." He loves lining up his toys.

Cheeri-O Ruby!

Tonight Ruby got to cheer at a high school basketball game

as part of the kids' cheer clinic. She loves these clinics -

the dancing, the cheering, and the face painting. :)

There were two practices for the clinic, and Ruby had

dance during one of them, so she didn't know

the performance material as well as she'd like to.

She still did great, though. And she did an awesome cartwheel!

Here's the video of the girls' halftime performance.

I think Alton was a little wary of Brutus, the mascot,

but by the second half he was brave enough to

roam around the bleachers.

Max was at his school class's weekly night games,

but the rest of us went to watch Ruby.

The basketball team won their game, 

and Ruby had a great night.

Go Tigers!

Valentines and Boxes 2015

Milo chose Captain America Valentines,

Ruby picked Big Hero 6, Jonah gave his friends

Avengers Valentines, and Max chose Star Wars.

Milo made a Plants Vs. Zombies box for school.

Ruby saved her box from last year, and chose

to use it for her box again this year.

She made one change - the 7 is now an 8. :)

Jonah also made a Plants Vs. Zombies box.

His was a kernel-pult.

This morning he decided we needed the catapult part,

and we added one right before school. Phew.

Maxwell has been super busy with school,

knowledge bowl, basketball, his play, and homework.

He wanted a Pac-man Valentine box, and we came

up with a simple and fast version that he was able

to put together late last night/early this morning.

Alton and Bentley didn't make Valentines or boxes,

but I am sure they will eat their fair share of candy anyway. :)

Random

Milo got to play in the rain.

Alton loves to do math flashcards with Ruby.

So John pulled out the alphabet flashcards for

Alton to do. He is really good at "O."

Ruby made herself a mini-pizza.

Hearts, 2015 edition

Pinewood Derby

I have lost track of how many Derbies we have had,

and how many we have left. We just do it.

This year, the Activity Day girls were invited to participate,

which means that Ruby got to make a car.

John, Jonah, and Ruby went to the workshop a few

weeks ago and got the cars cut out. A week ago

they painted them, and on Friday they added wheels,

weights, and decorations.

Jonah's car won the first race of the evening.

Ruby got first place in her first race, too.

Milo and Alton (with Bentley's help) participated

in the banana car races in between heats.

Jonah took second place out of all the Cub Scouts.

He was a little excited. :)

After the races, Maxwell raced his Tardis 

against Ruby and Jonah's cars.

Our Cub Master always makes cool cars.

This year she made a pencil.

Ruby took third place in the 1st Ward Activity Day Girls.

She was also pretty happy.

The kids always "get" to eat the tenderized bananas

from the banana car races. But this year we also got

treats! Our Primary Counselor made these cute treats.

Hooray for a successful Derby!
