Crazy Hair

Last week was Red Ribbon week at both of

our elementary schools. It doesn't sound like

the big boys' school did anything special,

but Ruby and Jonah's school had a theme each day.

One day was Crazy Hair Day.

Jonah just got a hair cut, but we spiked the hair on

half of his head. Ruby opted for a ponytail

mohawk. They were pretty glad whey they

got to the school and were sure they

weren't the only ones with Crazy Hair.

And then there were three

Jonah needed another pair of warm pajamas

and Costco had some that matched the little guys'!

Alton likes me

a late night last week waiting for John to get

some infant ibuprofen from the store for our sick baby

Last week, Bentley got a haircut that he didn't want.

He was pretty mad at me.

A day or two later, Ruby said to me,

"Some people say that you're a bad mom, but I don't."

Milo chimed in, "I kind of don't."

At least Alton likes me.

Evening

The weather this week has been beautiful - perfect fall weather!

We had an early dinner tonight because Bentley

had a scout thing at 5:30 (the early dinner made possible

by the sweet neighbor who brought us soup and rolls

yesterday). The kids needed help with their bikes,

so John went out to be the mechanic. Alton and I followed

everyone out and after a bit I went back for the camera.

Reflections

Jonah decided to enter the PTA Reflections contest

this year. I'm not a big fan of the program, but he was

very excited about it. The theme this year is

" Believe. Dream. Inspire."

Jonah chose the 3D Art option and made

a clay sculpture that he painted with acrylics.

His work is titled "Dinosaur Island."

He chose to represent the theme with this sculpture

because he believes that the dinosaurs improved 

with each era, and he thinks that mankind should

follow their example and always work to get better.

Six Months Collage

I finally filled in the empty spot in our family collage!

Alton's 6 month picture completes it.

We think he looks like John and Jonah in these pictures.

Braces Be Gone!

Bentley's braces came off on Thursday!

He was really excited - he hated his braces.

The orthodontist gave him a bag of all the treats he wasn't

supposed to eat (but did anyway) while he had braces - 

popcorn, jaw breakers, sticky candy, etc.

Now he just has a purple retainer that he wears while

he sleeps. I'm so glad that he doesn't have to wear it 

all the time - it would probably end up in the garbage at school.

Food!

We introduced Alton to food on Monday.

He didn't grimace and seemed to like it.

He just had trouble remembering to take his

thumb out before he had a bite.

By the end, he just wanted to do it himself.
He got to hang onto the spoon for a bit.

I think he's happy to get to eat with the family,

instead of just watching everyone else eat.

Ruby from Head to Toe

Ruby picked out a new dress this weekend.

She was excited to have a ruby red dress to match her

shoes and her name. When I told her she looked pretty,

she said, "Do you know what would make it look

even better? If I taped these (hot pink) feathers to my ears.!"

I told her that would probably distract people at church,

so she agreed to forgo the feathers.

Six Months!

Alton is six months old today!
It's also his Grandma H*'s birthday,
and his cousin Kristie's blessing day.
To celebrate, I took lots of pictures of our boy. :)
Here are a few of our favorites.

He was a good sport - even taking his thumb
out of his mouth once in a while to see if I
could snap the picture quickly enough.
Really, this is probably how he'd like to
have spent his big day - in his pajamas,
sucking that thumb. Happy half-birthday little guy!
