Ruby's First Tooth

When I took the kids to the dentist last month,
the hygienist told Ruby that she had a loose tooth!
Ruby was thrilled! And I was happy to know that
the toothache she'd complained about was only
a loose tooth, and nothing more.
She has been wiggling that tooth, asking people to pull it,
and hoping it would fall out. It finally did!
She was eating an apple yesterday when
the tooth came out. Ruby's especially pleased that
she lost her first tooth BEFORE 1st grade,
while her older brothers had already started 1st
grade before losing their first tooth.

As excited as she was for the tooth fairy to come,
she wasn't sure she wanted to give up that special tooth.
We took a picture before she put it under her bed
so that she could always remember it.
Ruby was hoping for a dollar, but
settled for the fifty cents she found under her pillow.
She has already found another loose tooth.
When she told her Dad, he said, "Here we go again!"
She thought that was pretty funny.  :)

Day Camp 2013

The boys and I went to Day Camp on Wednesday!
It was Jonah's first year and he's really been looking
forward to it. Maxwell went last year and I think
he was happy to go back and to know what to expect.
We met at the church at 6:30 am, and drove up
the canyon. It was nice and cool at the camp - the sun
hadn't come up over the mountains when we got there.
Here's a shot of our group just before flag ceremony.
The theme this year was "Soaring to New Heights"
and our first station was called Lunar Lab.
The boys did some science experiments. I'm glad it
was first, because it was kind of boring. If it had been
later on in the day I don't think the boys would have listened.
Max and Jonah with their buddies mixing something up.
Getting ready for the next station.
The fearless leaders (and Alton).
Our second station was BB Gun Ballistics.
It is always one of the boys' favorites.
After BB guns, we went to the boats -
otherwise known as Space Capsule Recovery Center.

The boys seemed to have pretty good teamwork
this year. They raced to the end of the lake and back,
and then went after balls. Maxwell and Jonah claim victory.

Our last station before lunch was Astronaut Archery.

Here's Jonah (2nd from the right) taking a shot.
And Maxwell (in the middle ).
Both boys seemed happy with their shooting.
I was relieved, because those bows can be hard to use
and sometimes the boys get frustrated or sad.
10:45 am - break for lunch and Alton is happy!
After lunch, our first station was Wright Brother's Garage.
The boys tried to assemble model planes.
The kits were pretty bad, and the glue didn't dry fast
enough, so this station was kind of a bust.
Luckily, the last station was rockets.
The boys prepared their own rocket,
and then got to launch it.

They loved seeing how far their rockets flew.

(Our group leader, Austin, took the photo of me with the boys,
and he told us to say "cheese." Maybe Jonah doesn't like cheese?)
It was a pretty good Day Camp,
and I'm so glad I got to go (even with a baby).

Reunions

While I was in Idaho last weekend for the reception,
I got to see a couple of good friends.
Shayla and her girls (Kindra and Kalise) stopped
by Saturday morning. Shayla and I first met
when we played for our 8th grade volleyball team.
She is the 2nd from the left on the top,
and I'm just below her - 1st on the left.
And here we are now - it's so hard to believe that
it's been more than 20 years since we first met!
After lunch, Alton and I went to see Alisa
and her family. She had a baby about a month after
I had Alton, and we think they should be college
roommates one day - just like we were.
At the Elms as roommates in April 1999,
and now with our little guys.
It was great to see Shayla and Alisa,
and to remember how much fun we had.
I'm grateful for good friends and the ability to
pick up where we left off. It's so easy to talk to them.
When I figure out how to move our families
to Utah, I will start working on a plan to get
all of my friends a little closer to us.

The Reception

Greg and Kristina's first reception was in Idaho Falls
on Saturday the 22nd at the church.
Becky and my Mom made the cute cake.
The cultural hall looked great, and it was fun to see
lot's of former ward members, friends, and family.

My Dad's brother, Kent, and his wife, Linda.
Bryce and Mary talking to my parents.
(Greg's middle name is after Bryce.)
Patrice, Ramzie, and Nick

Alton liked his Aunt Deb.

The woman on the left was my Sunbeam teacher
(she also taught all of my siblings in Sunbeams).
The woman on the right his her mother.
(Neither of them has aged in 30 years.
They've looked the same as long as I can remember.)
Warren and Spencer moved the cake - that was kind of scary.

Max was a big help with Alton on the trip.
He also played with his cousins and helped
get ready for the reception. Then, he got to play
games on Mindy's kindle DURING the reception.

Bubba ate my cake when I got up to talk to someone.
You can tell he's worried that he'll get in trouble. Not.
Karlenn's husband, Ben, took the photos at the reception.
Karlenn and I went to school together, and her
little sister, Brianna, is married to my brother Spencer.
We're extended in-laws (or something like that).
Kristina had super cute shoes.
Her siblings did a great job decorating the Jeep.

Greg is a little OCD, sot he cups and balloons kind of
drove him crazy while he was driving. Maxwell helped him
cut them off the next morning before the newlyweds
left for Island Park.

It was nice to meet Kristina's family - they're great.
It was also fun to spend some time with my siblings.
Mikey didn't make it to Idaho, but we were all there on
Friday for the wedding. Now if only I could figure out
a way to get all of our families to move to Utah . . .
